Ethiopian Aviation University, in partnership with Boeing, successfully wrapped up the fourth edition of the STEM School Program, held from July 13 to August 21, 2026.

This six-week initiative welcomed 28 new Grade 11 students and hosted a weeklong advanced session for 28 alumni-top STEM achievers representing Ethiopia’s 14 regions. Throughout the program, participants engaged in over 300 hours of intensive training in STEM fundamentals and digital skills, including coding, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, students completed a two-week internship across key Ethiopian Airlines departments, including MRO, the IT Division, Cargo & Logistics, and Ethiopian Aviation University, gaining valuable hands-on industry experience.

Ethiopian Airlines Group Executives and Boeing Officials attended the vibrant closing ceremony. During his address, Mr. Retta Melaku, Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the airline’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent and advancing STEM education in Ethiopia. Ambassador Henok Teferra, Managing Director of Boeing Africa, also emphasized the program’s vital role in inspiring young Ethiopians to pursue careers in aviation.

Conveying his congratulatory message, Mr. Laeke Tadesse, President, Ethiopian Aviation University, said: “Remember that the skills and knowledge you have gained are just the beginning. The true impact lies ahead in how you apply them, solving problems, inspiring others, and contributing to your communities. The seeds planted during this program lay the foundation for your continued growth, academically, professionally, and personally. You are the future architects of progress in Ethiopia and beyond.”
