Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS)
This is a specialty course for pilots, focused on handling ETOPS-specific scenarios such as engine failure, fuel diversion, and long-range emergency planning. Simulators are used to practice ETOPS diversion procedures and decision-making in remote areas.
CBT

Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM)
Simulator sessions include RVSM airspace operations, focusing on maintaining accurate altitudes, use of autopilot, altimeter cross-checks, and dealing with system failures that would disqualify RVSM compliance.
CBT

Minimum Navigation Performance Specification (MNPS)
Simulators help train for MNPS navigation procedures such as oceanic clearance, position reporting, and use of long-range navigation systems like GPS and INS. Pilots also practice handling deviations or loss of navigation accuracy in oceanic airspace.
CBT

Low Visibility
refers to weather conditions in which a pilot’s external visual references are significantly reduced—typically due to fog, heavy rain, snow, smoke, or mist. These conditions affect both take-off and landing operations and are a critical focus in simulator training and airline operational planning.
CBT

Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)
a mandatory and essential part of modern pilot training that prepares flight crew to recognize, avoid, and recover from unexpected aircraft attitudes—commonly referred to as "aircraft upsets."
Synthetic Flight Instructor (SFI)
SFIs are primarily responsible for teaching and evaluating pilots on simulators, which replicate the behaviour and systems of real aircraft in a controlled environment.
